Juice Plus+® Scam

Get the Facts

A Fair Label or Just a Misinformed Opinion

Hello, I'm Dr. Patrick Havey, president of The Health & Wellness Institute and I'd like to make a few comments about what you may have found when doing an Internet search for "Juice Plus". Let me start by saying that I too came across many of those sites when first investigating and doing my due diligence regarding the company and their products. But let me offer some insights that you may or may not know.

While many companies can be questioned about their business practices, the Juice Plus+ scam that has been perpetuated on the Internet needs to be questioned. First, when a so-called 'scam' is spread by just a handful of individuals (one mainly who has made over 2,000 edits on just the Juice Plus+® page which has to bring doubts about any "scam" to begin with, but I digress), the merit of the claims being made most certainly can be questioned. Secondly, when you dig deeper and look at the facts about the company who makes Juice Plus+, and the products that are offered by them, you will come to the conclusion that there must be ulterior motives of those who write and post such negative information. But let's break it down further.

First, let's look at the definition of a scam.

According to Merriam-Webster: scam: a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation
According to thefreeonlinedictionary.com: scam: A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle.

     While we don't like to give attention to the negative, we do live in a world where just about the only news that is reported is negative. With so many positive things taking place in the world in regards to advances in science, new discoveries about the benefits of products, and new ways to prevent or cure diseases, we still have to address the negative reports and sometimes false information that is posted. Unfortunately, sometimes people will approach everything with a negative view until proven otherwise.

     In regards to the definition, one would be hard pressed to put the makers of Juice Plus+ into this category or label the company as such. There is nothing deceptive or fraudulent going on. The transparency of the company is there, and the product and the operations are open for anyone to see, as evidenced from the home page of their website.

The two basic reasons for the existence of a business must be looked at:

1. To provide some form of benefit to or for a person, people, or community. And...
2. To create a profit.
      Many may argue that the second has become more important than the first in the case of too many companies. Wall Street has provided plenty of reasons (and scams as the case may be) for creating that sentiment amongst the public. But let's not let a few bad apples ruin our trust for those who have played by the rules and still focus on their first priority being a quality and beneficial product (number 1 above).

     Yes, there are scams that appear on a regular basis, whereby a few individuals seek to take advantage of the desperate or naive individuals who may be clinging to hope of a "cure" for their problem or ailment... only to be let down.

As for Juice Plus+, there has never been any 'scam' that has been found to have any merit. Besides, the best sign that a company may be questionable at all is to look at its history. How long has it been in business? What is its growth per year, if any? How many repeat cutomers does it have? These are all great measures as to whether or not a company is reputable. As the saying goes, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

To answer those questions:
  • Forty years in business in 2010
  • Twenty percent growth per year (nice and steady)
  • Eighty percent (will use one or more products a 2nd time)

To use the term Juice Plus Scam, one must have some serious hatred toward a company, or better have some good solid proof that such practice exists. And just based on the few points made above, logic would dictate that there must be some ulterior motives by the individuals who started this nonsense. More Information and Reviews About Juice Plus+®
and Our Mission

     One of the most important priorities of the health of a nation should be the future - children. And with all of the stress that we face, it seems that nutrition is often placed down the list of priorities. Too often we wait until there is a problem with our health before we take action. Most everyone will face a health problem during the course of their life. Estimates are that about 1% of the population actually are proactive in prevention of disease based on the choices they make for a healthy lifestyle.  While billions of dollars are spent on research for curing sicknesses, diseases, and other ailments, the most important message is lost - and that is one of prevention. A healthy diet that consists of a minimum of 7 servings of fruits and vegetables each day is the first and probably most important step in prevention. It's simple, an easy message to deliver, and easy one to comprehend, yet it goes without action for most people. As easy as the advice is to give, and as powerful as the results could be, most of us fail at getting the minimum recommended fruits and vegetables each day. Whether we don't, can't, or won't, the fact is that we need the nutrients from a variety of fruit and vegetable sources. Hence, the vast market of health products that tout many health benefits that are offered to us today. Many people now are discovering the power of one nutritional supplement in Juice Plus+®.

What is Juice Plus+?  It is not just one or several vitamins, but whole food nutrition from a variety of fruits and vegetables (7 and 8, respectively). How can anyone make that out to be a Juice Plus scam? NSA is the maker of Juice Plus, and a scam would have ended the company years ago. Instead, the opposite is true. Not a scam, by a company that prides itself on putting the customer first by being sure the quality and efficacy of the product is #1. There are very few people who don't have anything good to say about...well, almost anything. These are the people who are out to make fact out of fiction in regards to any scam. This couldn't be further from the truth. Read on...

First, realize that there are literally hundreds of nutrients in whole foods. You don't see a list of vitamin, mineral, and nutrient content when you purchase a fruit or vegetable, because the list wouldn't fit on the orange, apple, spinach, or any of the many different fruits and vegetables. Second, these nutrients are obviously beneficial to our health or they would never exist in the first place. And finally, these plethora of nutrients do not work as well alone as they do together. This is why when you read the bottle of Juice Plus+ capsules, you will see the list of fruits and vegetables, not a list of vitamins or minerals. This is the same for all of the Juice Plus+® products.  When you take any NSA Juice Plus product, you are getting whole food nutrition from the following fruits and vegetables:

    • Apple
    • Carrot
    • Orange
    • Spinach
    • Pineapple
    • Parsley
    • Cranberry
    • Beet
    • Peach
  • Kale
  • Acerola Cherry
  • Broccoli
  • Papaya
  • Cabbage
  • Tomato
  • Barley
  • Oats

Here are some other important points to keep in mind that separate Juice Plus+® Scam naysayers from what is the more saught after whole food nutrition that comes from fruits and vegetables. First, Juice Plus provides the vast array of naturally occurring nutrients, vitamins, phytonutrients, enzymes, and what exists naturally in the whole food - even the fiber found in the whole raw fruit and vegetabe. So instead of a single vitamin or mineral that is most often made in a lab - synthetic - that is identical in structure to the vitamin or mineral in the whole food, you are getting the extract of nutrients from the food itself - that is, more than just one. Most vitamin supplements are chemically recreated in a lab and do not have anything close to the number of nutrients that exist in the whole food. The NSA products do everything to be true to the method of extracting what Mother Nature intended for us and our health, and capturing the entire essence of what is in these variety of fruits and vegetables. Finally, what sets them apart from the many supplements on the market today is the extensive research that has been performed - and published in peer reviewed Journals - on the product.  Institutions and Universities from all over the world have been involved in and implemented research and released results on these studies.  Here are some of the findings:

  • Juice Plus + ...
    is packed with whole food nutrition;
    raises levels of antioxidants in the blood;
    lowers levels of lipid peroxides and homocysteine in the blood;
    helps enhance immune function, reduce DNA damage, and improve circulation;

On a more scientific and credibility level, the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education gives its Seal of Approval.  The Seal of Approval has criteria that must be met in order to receive it. It would be difficult for a company to labeled a scam with an approved Seal.

1. The choice is made completely independent of the manufacturer’s financial support for the services of our organization.
2. The product must be safe and universally appropriate for human health.
3. The product must be proven effective, either by scientific research or clinical experience or both.
4. It must be consistent with the Center’s mission and goals.
5. The Center must have long-standing familiarity and broad experience with the product.
6. It must be produced or manufactured by a well-established company and be on the market at least three years.
7. The product must be fairly priced, and the company must value public benefit as much as corporate profits.
8. The company must use reputable marketing practices and materials.

The Reason
"Eat more fruits and vegetables." Over the years, people have found countless ways to ignore that advice. "I don't have time." "It's too much trouble." Medical science reminds us almost every day that good nutrition and good health go hand in hand, especially when it comes to the healthful benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, despite the growing medical evidence, less than 25% of American adults eat the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables.

There is no substitute for eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, at least 7-13 servings every day. But if you're like most people, you don't eat enough fruits or vegetables or enough variety. And those fruits and vegetables that we do eat tend to be over processed, over-cooked, or too far removed from the field. That's why there's Juice Plus+. It's a convenient, affordable, and natural whole food based nutritional product providing nutrition from 17 vegetables, fruits, and grains.

Juice Plus+ is not a vitamin supplement, providing a limited number of handpicked nutrients. Juice Plus+ is a whole food based product providing the wide array of nutrients found in a variety of fruits, vegetables, and grains. It's the next best thing to fruits and vegetables...because we don't get nearly enough of the real thing every day.

Other Juice Plus+® Products
Juice Plus+® Chewables delivers the same fruit and vegetable powder blends as the Juice Plus+® capsules but in a tasty, soft chewable form. Their appealing taste comes from two all-natural sweeteners – tapioca syrup and organic cane syrup – absolutely no high fructose corn syrup. They contain no artificial flavors or artificial colors and are 100% vegetarian; the 'chewiness' comes from fruit pectins, not gelatin.

Juice Plus+ Vineyard Blend® provides naturally balanced whole food based nutrition from Concord grapes and eight different berries - blueberry, cranberry, blackberry, bilberry, raspberry, red currant, black currant and elderberry. Berries and grapes provide some of nature's most powerful and healthful antioxidants.
